Green star made of Delica beads
We used the following DIY components for this star:
- Delica beads, size #11
- Beading thread, FireLine, 6LB, 1.5m
- 1 closed ring, 4mm, gilded sterling silver
First, you string 52 beads. Then, you you sew through some of the first beads in order to form a ring. Tighten the thread.
The end of the thread should be approx. 8cm long.
String the next 2 beads.
Sew back through the previous 2 beads as shown in the picture.
After that, you sew through the first 2 beads again. This is the first point of the star.
Sew through the next 11 beads.
Make the second point in the same way. Sew back through bead 8 and 9.
There are always 7 beads between the points of the star.
Sew back through bead 10 and 11.
Tighten the thread. The first 2 points are done.
Now you make the last 3 points in the same way. Skip 1 bead ... and sew through the neighbouring one.
Again you skip 1 bead and sew through the next one.
Skip the next bead and sew through the neighbouring one.
Pull the needle through the last beads ... and then through the next 2 beads. Sew through the remaining 4 sides of the star in the same way.
You start the next round by stringing 2 beads. Then, you sew through 1 bead at the point.
String 1 bead and sew through the bead that sticks out.
Again you string 1 bead and sew through the next bead that sticks out.
You sew through the next bead that sticks out without sewing a bead on.
Then, you string 1 bead again and sew through the next bead that sticks out.
Again you string1 bead and sew through the next bead (at the point of the star).
Thread 2 beads and sew through the next bead. Continue sewing and adding beads this way on the remaining 4 sides of the star.
When the last bead of this round is fastened, you sew through 2 beads again.
String 2 beads and sew through the next bead. At the points you always add 2 beads at a time.
Again you thread 1 bead and sew through the bead sticking out.
Continue like this .. threading 1 bead and sewing through the bead that sticks out. All in all you fasten 5 beads on this side of the star.
Then you add beads on the other 4 sides of the star in the same way.
Start the next round by adding 2 beads to the point, then you sew on 1 bead at a time again.
All in all, you fasten 6 beads on every side of the star.
You start the next round by threading 2 beads. After that, you sew through the next bead.
Fasten 3 beads. Pull the needle through the next bead without adding a new one.
Sew the next bead on. This time, you add 6 beads all in all.
Sew the remaining 4 sides of the star in the same way. Thread 2 beads and sew through the next one.
All in all, you add 7 beads to every side of the star. This is the last round.
At one of the points, you sew on a closed ring. Secure the thread by sewing it up through 6-7 random beads.
