In this inspiring blog post, Smyks presents a new range of handmade drop pendants in semi-precious stones and sterling silver and gold-plated sterling silver.
The pendants are small and finely faceted into adorable drops and suitable for use in earrings, bracelets and pearl necklaces. Wear them alone or pair them with other small beads in semi-precious, natural and freshwater pearls. Use the pendants as spacers, charms or pendants and create amazing unique jewelry designs that only YOU can flaunt!
The examples shown are drop pendants in gold-plated sterling silver, but all pendants are also available in sterling silver.
It's a good idea to practice making loops and coils with silver wire to make the earrings shown. Check out Smyk's DIY | This is how you make a loop and DIY | Earrings with gemstone bead links. and learn the technique yourself, or join a Basic Course to learn the technique.
The pendants come with various gemstones and semi-precious stones. When working with semi-precious stones, no two stones are alike. Therefore, you can be sure that you can always create a unique piece for your collection. The different types of stones are also associated with their specific properties and their effect on those who wear them.
Amethyst is often associated with calmness, clarity, and spiritual growth. It's believed to promote inner peace, reduce stress, and enhance intuition. People wear amethyst for its alleged ability to create emotional stability and support in decision-making.
Amazonite is linked to hope, truth, and harmony. It's believed to have a calming effect, aiding in communication and relieving emotional disturbances. Amazonite wearers might experience improved self-expression and a sense of balance.
Green onyx is connected with strength, confidence, and positivity. It's believed to improve mental clarity, boost self-worth, and provide a sense of balance. Wearing green onyx may result in increased determination and strength.
Citrine is associated with prosperity, positivity, and energy. It's believed to bring warmth and enthusiasm, promote creativity, and enhance mood. Citrine wearers often seek its alleged ability to attract abundance and success.
Therefore, these gemstones can be assessed both for their beauty and their assumed metaphysical properties. Some choose to wear these stones based on the desired impact they may have on emotions, mindset, or energy levels. Whether seeking calmness, balance, positivity, or clarity, individuals are drawn to these gemstones because of the potential influence they may have on their well-being and state of mind.

We used the following jewellery components to make these earrings:

- 2 pendants with faceted amethyst teardrop, gold-plated sterling silver
- headpin with 1.5mm ball, gold-plated silver
- cubic zirconia, 2mm

- jumprings, 3mm, gilded sterling silver
First, you pull the small gemstone beads on headpins and form loops with windings (see our Smyks guide DIY | This is how you make a loop). After that, you gather them with with jumpgrings.
This technique is described in our Smyks blog post on DIY | Earrings with pearl clusters.

First, you wind 3 small gemstone beads around the earwire with gold-plated wire. After that, you cut off a short piece of chain and connect the chain with the earwire on one side (with a jumpring) and the pendant on the other side (with another jumpring).
Next, you pull 1 small gemstone bead (2mm) on a headpin and form a loop (see our Smyks guide DIY | This is how you make a loop). Before you make the windings, you insert the connector into the loop. Then you close it with windings.
