Ankle chains with Charms

Summer is here! Now the time has come to decorate your ankles with glittering chains.

All ankle chains are equipped with a chain extender. They can be placed high up on the ankle so that they are visible together with sneakers ... or they can hang a little further down when you are wearing open sandals.

The semi-precious stone beads and freshwater pearls are attached to the chains with a loop with windings made with a headpin. For further instructions, please see our DIY guide on how to make a loop

We used several basic jewellery pliers which you can find here: 4-pieces plier set.

And another tip ... avoid jumprings with a wire gauge of 0.5mm or thinner to fasten the clasp with because they open up more easily. If you find it difficult to make the jumpring pass through the chain links, you can use an awl. Press the awl carefully into the link to widen it. Then the jumpring should pass through more easily.

Ankle Bracelet with Semi-Precious Stone Beads

We used the following DIY jewellery components:

Cable chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Headpin with ball, short version, gold-plated sterling silver

Headpin with plate, short version, gold-plated sterling silver

Jumprings, 3.5x0.5mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Jumprings, 4x0.7mm, gold-plated brass

Chain extender, pea chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Spring ring clasp, 5.5mm, gold-plated sterling silver

+ various small gemstone beads

+ Miyuki seed beads, size #15, 24 karat gold-plated

+ Miyuki seed beads, rondelle, duracoat 2.2x1mm

First, you cut approx. 22.5cm chain to size.

After that, you start making the pendants. For our examples, we used headpins with ball and headpins with plate. When the pendants are done, you fasten them to the chain with 3.5x0.5mm jumprings.

At one end, you attach a spring ring clasp with a 4x0.7mm jumpring.

At the other end, you fasten a chain extender with a 4mm jumpring. Alternatively, you use the last pendant to connect the chain to the chain extender - as shown in the picture.

Your ankle bracelet is done. You can use the same design for bracelets and necklaces.

Ankle Bracelet with Charms

We used the following DIY jewellery components:

Cable chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, round, faceted, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, uneven surface, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, sun, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, starfish, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, scallop shell, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, crescent moon, gold-plated sterling silver

Link, uneven surface, gold-plated sterling silver

Jumprings, 3x0.5mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Jumprings, 3x0.6mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Lobster claw clasp, 9mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Chain extender, pea chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Cut approx. 22.5cm chain to size. Connect the chosen pendants to the chain with open 3x05.mm jumprings.

Attach the lobster claw clasp to one chain end with a 3x0.6mm jumpring. At the other chain end, you add a link between the chain and the chain extender.

The ankle bracelet is done and can be adjusted in length.

Ankle Bracelet with 3 Chains and Freshwater Pearls

We used the following DIY jewellery components:

Curb chain with facets, gold-plated sterling silver

Cable chain, extra fine, gold-plated sterling silver

Wire, 0.4mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Link, fan with freshwater pearl, gold-plated sterling silver

Lobster claw clasp, 9mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Chain extender, pea chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Freshwater pearls, small

For this ankle bracelet, you do not need any jumprings. All individual parts are connected to each other with loops and windings

Cut off three piece of curb chain. For this design we used the following lengths: 8.5cm + 8cm + 7.5cm.

After that, you fasten a piece of 0.4mm wire to each of the three pieces of chain with a loop and windings.

String a little freswater pearl on each of the wires.

Then you connect the wires to the holes in the fan-shaped link directly with a loop and windings.

A small piece of chain (approx. 4cm) is fastened to the eyelet of the link in the same way ... with a piece of wire with a freswater pearl and loop and windings on either side (see picture).

Connect the other chain ends to the second fan-like link in the same way.

The chain extender is attached to one of the chain ends in the same way ... again with wire, a little freshwater pearl, loop and windings.

Finally, you use a piece of wire with a freshwater pearl, loops and windings to fasten the lobster claw clasp to the other chain end.

Now, your ankle bracelet is done and can be adjusted in length.

Ankle Bracelet with 2 Chains and Crescent Moons

We used the following DIY jewellery components:

Cable chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Figaro chain with facets, 0.4mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Pendant, crescent moon, gold-plated sterling silver

Links, crescent moon, gold-plated sterling silver

Jumprings, 3x0.6mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Chain extender, pea chain, gold-plated sterling silver

Spring ring clasp, 5.5mm, gold-plated sterling silver

Cut approx. 10cm cable chain and 11cm figaro chain to size. Fasten the chains to the link with jumprings.

Connect the other ends of the chains to the second link in the same way. Then you attach the crescent moon pendant (see picture).

Fasten one piece of cable chain to the third eyelet of each of the two links (approx. 2 x 5cm cable chain).

To one chain end you attach a chain extender and to the other end a spring ring clasp.

Your ankle chain with crescent moons is done.
