Make your own statement necklaces with beautiful semi-precious stones. You decide which stones you want in your necklace. Maybe beads in a beautiful colour or gemstones with a special property? Mix semi-precious stones with freshwater pearls or add a small fine pendant as decoration in your necklace.
You can tie small knots between the beads to achieve a lighter look.... or you can string seed beads as spacers between the gemstone beads.
The necklaces in this blog post are made with silk thread, that's why they fall softly and loosly. For further instructions please see our earlier blog post on how to make bead necklaces with silk thread and crimp ends: DIY Pearl necklace with silk thread
Have fun with your very own necklaces!
Necklace with Mixed Gemstones
For this necklace, we used the following jewellery components:
A mix of semi-precious stone beads in various colours, shapes and sizes, for example:
Rose quartz, square, faceted, 13x10x10mm
Agate, amethyst, lapis lazuli, freshwater pearls, quartz, tiger eye
2 crimp ends with eye, 4mm, gold-plated sterling silver
2 jumprings, open, 5x0.8 mm, gold-plated sterling silver
1 spring ring clasp, 14mm, gold-plated sterling silver
Compile a mix of beads in different shapes and sizes and string the beads ... until the necklace has got the right length.
This necklace is finished off with a large spring ring clasp made of gold-plated sterling silver. The clasp is very decorative and can be placed in front so everyone can see it.
Necklace with Blue Banded Agate
For this necklace, we used the following jewellery components:
Banded agate, blue, dyed, 10mm, 6 pcs.
Banded agate, blue, dyed, 12mm, 10 pcs.
Banded agate, blue, dyed. 14mm, 14 pcs.
Silk thread, dark blue, 0.60 mm
2 crimp ends with eye, 4mm, sterling silver
2 jumprings, open, 5x0.8 mm, sterling silver
1 lobster claw clasp, 11mm, sterling silver
String the beads on the silk thread. We arranged the different sizes in the following order: 3 beads with a diameter of 14mm in the middle ... and on either side 1 bead with a diameter of 10mm and 1 bead with a diameter of 8mm. Continue stringing beads in this order ... all in all 5 times. (For our example we exchanged the 14mm bead in the centre for a freshwater pearl.)
For this necklace, we used a lobster claw clasp. You can add a chain extender to make the necklace adjustable in length. Connect the crimp ends to the clasp with the help of open jumprings.
Necklace with Jade and Freshwater Pearl
For this necklace, we used the following jewellery components:
1 strand of jade beads, misty rose, 10mm (39 beads)

Silk thread, 0.60mm, light rose
2 jumprings, open, 5x0.8mm, gold-plated sterling silver
... a piece of cable chain, gold-plated sterling silver
1 toggle clasp, gold-plated sterling silver
String the beads on the silk thread. For this example, we strung seed beads between the jade beads to give the necklace a lighter look and added a freshwater pearl as dekoration.
