DIY Square Locking beads for macramé knotting.

Decorative square beads for Macramé Bracelets.

Smyks presents a series of square flat beads, typically known from the clasps of many Shamballa-style bracelets. The square beads, featuring a side groove and a wide hole, come in various colors, including gold-plated, black, silver, rose, as well as matte and shiny variants, with or without embedded crystals. You can use a single bead as a decorative finish for the clasp of your macramé bracelet, or, as shown above, create an entire bracelet consisting of flat square beads. Although often referred to as a "clasp bead," it should be noted that the bead generally does not have an actual clasp function but serves as decoration.

You can find the many different types of square clasp beads here

Here you can see how a steel clasp bead with zirconia is used as the finishing touch for the bracelet. Check out our macramé knotting guide.

Smyks offers several versions of square clasp beads. Note that a clasp bead is primarily decorative and does not significantly impact the strength of the clasp or knots.

The two loose cords that fasten the bracelet are often adorned with two small beads, measuring 4 to 6 mm in diameter. In the example below, 6 mm beads were used.

This bracelet features a slightly longer and simpler bead in gold-plated steel. This elongated clasp bead is also available in steel color and black, as well as in matte and shiny versions.
