DIY | Earrings with Zirconia

Smyks has acquired an exclusive range of earwires and connectors. The earwires are crafted from oxidised sterling silver and decorated with four small zirconia stones.

They are available in three distinct versions, and the pieces can be combined in countless ways, allowing you to create your own designs with ease.

Below are a few examples showing how earwires, connectors, coins and chains can be combined to create your own beautiful selection of earrings.

Earring with chain

For this piece, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires with plate and crystals, oxidised sterling silver
1 pair of earthreads with eye, oxidised sterling silver

Carefully open the eye of the earwire and twist it gently in one direction. A pair of pliers will help you do this with control and precision.

Now place the eye of the earthread onto the eye of the earwire, then close the opened section again, using pliers if needed.

Earrings with connector and earthread

For this earring, we used the following components:

1 pair of oxidised sterling silver earwires with zirconia
2 pcs. connector with cubic zirconia, oxidised sterling silver
1 pair of earthreads, oxidised sterling silver

Gently open the eyes of both the earwire and the connector, then link the two parts together. Close each eye again to secure the connection.

Earring with diamond-shaped connector

For this earring, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires, diamond-shaped, oxidised sterling silver
2 pcs. diamond-shaped connector with cubic zirconia
1 pair of earthreads, oxidised sterling silver

Gently open the eyes of both the earwire and the connector, then link the two parts together. Close each eye again to secure the connection.

Earrings with coins

For these earrings, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires, oxidised sterling silver with crystals
2 pcs. coins, oxidised sterling silver, 6mm

Gently open the eye of the earwire, insert the coin and close the eye again.

Earrings with gilded coins

For these earrings, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires, oxidised sterling silver, with circle and zirconia
2 pcs. oxidised sterling silver coin, 6mm
2 pcs. gilded sterling silver coin, 10mm

This process is the same as with the other earrings. Gently open the eye of the earwire, place the coin inside it, and then close the eye again.

You then thread the earwire through the hole in the gold‑plated coin.

Earrings with connector and coin

For these earrings, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires with circle, oxidised sterling silver
2 pcs. connector with cubic zirconia, black sterling silver
2 pcs. coin, oxidised sterling silver, 6mm

This earring is made using the same steps as the others. You connect the components through their eyes: gently open the eye of the earwire, attach it to the lower eye of the connector, and close it again. This places the coin at the lowest point of the piece.

Earrings with diamond-shaped flower, connector and coin

For these earrings, we used the following components:

1 pair of earwires, oxidised sterling silver,with diamond-shaped plate and crystals
2 stk. connector with zirconia, diamond-shaped
2 stk. coin, oxidised sterling silver, 6mm

First, open the eye of the earwire, attach the connector, and then close the eye again. Next, open the eye of the connector, add the coin, and close the eye once more.
