Shell pearl beads with an authentic pearl look


Shell pearls are made of a glass or recin core which is coated with real mother-of-pearl. The result is a perfect round shape and a surface that has the same beautiful iridescent shine as real pearls. Smyks offer high quality shell pearls that are wear-resistant and can withstand long-term use.
Please note that the holes in the beads are usually 0.8-1mm in diameter. They can easily be threaded on headpins, jewelry wire or beading silk thread, but not on wax cord and the like. Shell pearls consist mainly of a glass core, that is why the holes cannot easily be drilled or enlarged.

Please note that some of the beads are half-drilled, which means they only have 1 hole. This is an advantage if they are to be used for earstuds or as pendants, where you don't want to see the hole at the opposite end of the bead. Half-drilled beads are usually attached to eyepins or earstud earrings with a pin and strong jewellery glue
